Hi People,

Its been a while, but much has happened in the ASLI rocket hanger. Below is a picture of the nearly complete RASTA launch vehicle. The rocket stands 2.5m tall & has a nominal diameter of 156mm. The picture shows test layout of sponsorship & partners logos, as she is still only at undercoat stage.

R.A.S.T.A is an acronym for the Recovery, Avionics and Separation systems Test Article; and as described is designed to allow for the testing of critical components required for “assured” recovery of our launch vehicles. R.A.S.T.A consists of a purpose built composite airframe, which is propelled by a custom designed hybrid rocket motor (M class impulse) to an altitude of at least 3000 meters. We will update more on our blog page soon regarding the details of the recovery system design.

The vehicle should be ready for launch by October & we welcome contact from a Queensland based Tripoli certified Level 3 flyer who would like to be involved in conducting launch operations, please message me if you would like to get involved.

And some more pictures of the alloy internal structures for the payload coupler, payload housing & the recovery module. As you will also notice the fins feature our first generation sounding rocket style fin brackets.

And the components including the the H100M hybrid motor, which is a NOX/PE Wax hybrid with an average thrust of 2050N for 4.5sec

Forgive the poor quality BTW these are only Iphone shots, the good photos will be posted soon :)
